We run an event series called the SJC Circle, which provides a regular space for those committed to anti-oppression, social justice and EDI to come together to learn, heal, grow, share wisdom and take action.

What to expect

The SJC Circle is an online event (via Zoom) that is divided into two main parts: a Keynote section and a breakout space.

  • For our keynote section we bring to you the leading minds in the field to share their knowledge and experience, and to support you to apply it to your own organisation or practice.

  • The breakout space is for participants to bring their own current EDI or anti-oppression challenges in order to receive the support and collective wisdom of the SJC Circle.

Check out our videos below for a taste of what to expect at the SJC Circle Keynotes:

Martha Awojobi speaking on White supremacy in the UK charity sector

Ruth Ibegbuna speaking on Working Class Justice in the Charity Sector

Meet the brilliant speakers who’ve shaped past SJC Circles: previous SJC Circle Speaker list

  • "That’s why spaces like the SJC Circle matter. Not because they offer easy answers, but because they invite honesty. Because they allow us to speak about burnout without shame, about power without euphemism, and about leadership without pretending that resilience alone will save us."

    - Lady Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, January 2026

  • "Radical, bold and unapologetic conversations - exactly what we need in these times."

    — Previous SJC Circle Attendee, December 2025

  • "The spacings, timings, flow, length, you are incredible for offering this as it helps me as a leader to have a super safe space to reflect on theory to action and what I need to do next in my organisation to push us ever forward while bringing people with us."

    — Previous SJC Circle Attendee, October 2025

  • “It was so refreshing to be in a safe and supportive space. I felt really heard and was able to talk openly about challenges in a way that you're often unable to do at work. And especially as EDI practitioners, where we spend a lot of time carefully navigating and supporting others.”

    — Previous SJC Circle Attendee, July 2025

  • "I found this an excellent space to share issues and also give support to others doing equality work. I found it a very useful and rewarding space which is rare."
